In the region – A special experience
The Scharmützelsee recreation area was once lauded by the German poet Theodor Fontane, who referred to the lake as "the sea of Brandenburg" in 1881 when he visited Saarow, which was then a manorial village belonging to a lord. The extensive protected natural area is just under an hour from the lively capital of Berlin's cultural offerings. At the heart of this peaceful, green oasis lies the largest lake in Brandenburg, Lake Scharmützel, which is even linked to Berlin's waterways via the Storkow waterways. The most striking characteristics of this region are its seclusion and and natural idyllic charm.
