Discover the Baltic Sea!

Tourists from both Germany and elsewhere love the sun-kissed Baltic Sea coast, which just happens to be the sunniest spot in the entire country. The consistently mild weather and the gentle sea air work wonders for anyone looking for a relaxing break. The bracing wind, which carries very little pollen, comes in from the sea and is a blessing for airways, irritated skin and the immune system as a whole.
And there’s good news for anyone who wants a beach holiday: as there are hardly any tides on the Baltic Sea, it’s safe to go swimming pretty much all the time. When you add wide sandy beaches, hilly sand dunes and promenades perfect for a stroll, you have everything you need for a perfect family holiday.

There is also plenty to discover in and around Lübeck, a city that was once part of the venerable trade alliance the Hanseatic League. The entire old town, including Lübeck’s landmark the Holstentor (Hosten Gate), has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. As the old town is surrounded by water, it can only be accessed via bridges. Lübeck is particularly proud of its most famous sons, with visitors reminded of Thomas Mann, Willy Brandt and Günter Grass everywhere they turn. Lübeck also serves as an ideal base for visiting many of the other beautiful places in northern Germany, such as Hamburg, Wismar, Rostock and Stralsund.

In Lübeck-Travemünde, one of Germany’s oldest spa and seaside resorts, you can stroll along the fine sandy beach as you take in the view of the Bay of Lübeck. Alternatively, you can admire the many windjammers, icebreakers, freighters and cruise liners that have dropped anchor here, not to mention the Passat, a four-masted barque that now serves as a museum ship. On the harbour, you can find the tastiest fish sandwiches in all of northern Germany. You can even buy your fish straight from a cutter and surprise your friends and family with a freshly caught evening meal.

Whether you explore Travemünde itself or tour the surrounding area, the mix of sunshine, sea breeze and seagulls’ calls will ensure a holiday that remains with you for a long time to come. Come and visit us at A-ROSA Travemünde and enjoy a truly unforgettable break.
